Thanks for Christmas Donations  ( January 2011)

Once again the members of the local community showed wonderful generosity in their kind donations to the Target stores and UnitingCare joint Christmas Tree in the Park Centre. Southcare was able to make very many children happy with toys, puzzles and books, children who would have otherwise had no gifts. We were also very happy to receive donations of cash that enabled us to buy gift vouchers for teenagers who are too old for many of the toys that we receive. We were also very fortunate to receive hamper items from many members of the community with the usual extra special support from Wesley Junior College and this year from Kensington Primary School. The South Perth Lions Club again donated Christmas Cakes which always help to make the hampers special.

Members of a second Donate-a Day team from BHP Billiton Nickel West, acted as Santa and were thrilled to see the happy faces of the many recipients who received gifts, hampers and food vouchers to spend in Mankara. The food vouchers are mainly funded by generous donations from LotteryWest and certainly assist in making it a Happy Christmas for many local residents. The BHP volunteers said that, after this day, they had a much better understanding of just how many people there are in the community who need support.

Southcare thanks everyone for their continuing support of its annual appeal whether it is with gifts, cash or food items. Without your generosity many families would not be able to join in the Spirit of Christmas. And do please remember that local bakeries donate day-old bread most weeks which is available free to anyone struggling in our community.
