New Horizons Day Centre & Bickley Club

New Horizons Day Centre and Bickley Club provide services for people who are aboriginal elders, frail aged, have a disability or have dementia, as well as for their carers. The focus is on by providing some support to people living in City of South Perth and adjacent areas so that they can remain living independently.

New Horizons - Dwellingup Outing

 

The team of staff members and volunteers who help in the New Horizons day centre and Bickley Club provide caring support and stimulating activities in a safe and friendly environment.

New Horizons Groups For Frail Aged People

Members usually attend the centre one day a week and enjoy the company of other visitors and the Southcare team. A variety of suitable optional activities are available, including occasional outings in the Southcare bus and visits to Mankara food store and the Opportunity shop. They enjoy a meal together and a break from being at home on their own. While they participate at New Horizons, their carers can get some respite knowing that their loved ones are in safe hands. Information and advice on other services is also readily available for Members and carers. A support group for carers is held on a regular basis.

Monday Frail Aged Men’s Group 9.00am - 3.30pm
Tuesdays Frail Aged & Aboriginal Elders Group 9.00am - 3.30pm
Wednesday to Saturday Frail Aged groups 9.00am – 3.30pm
Thursday and Friday Fortnightly Outings * 9.00am – 3.30pm
Thursday and Friday Alternate fortnightly Shopping Outings 9.00am – 3.30pm

The centre will provide transport by bus (with wheelchair hoist) or car

* Thursday fortnightly outings can include social outings as far afield as Mandurah or to local restaurants, galleries etc.

Friday fortnightly outings take clients to local shopping areas such as Chemist warehouses, clothing stores, garden centres, hardware stores etc.

New Horizons Groups For Younger People with a Disability This programme is designed for younger people with a disability living in the community, either with a supporting family member or carer or independently.

The programme aims to provide an opportunity for younger people with a disability to join a small group and enjoy a variety of entertainment and social activities out of their homes. This may include going to the movies, out for a meal, playing a sport or game, doing painting or pottery, allowing their carers, family members or friends who provide support at other times to have a break.
