Mankara is a low cost food store. Our aim is to sell groceries at the lowest possible price so that they are affordable to people in need. We stock an extensive range of products but not everything; – and availability of everyday essentials may alternate with demand. From time to time manufacturers make products available to us that are close to their use-by date or have had a packaging change; and we sell these as “Super Specials”.
Mankara is staffed by a large number of dedicated volunteers who provide their time to keep it running and open every day.
If you enjoy good old-fashioned, personal service, you should visit our shop. It is open to the general public with free parking nearby. The shop does not have credit/debit card facilities.
Why Mankara? The name is a contraction of Manning and Karawara, the two areas which historically were Southcare’s mission and service areas. Mankara first opened its doors in 1983.
