With the current mask mandates lifting at 12.01am Friday 29 April 2022, I wanted to confirm Southcare’s position moving forward.

We have sought advice from the Chief Health Officer and in line with current State Government and WA Health guidelines regarding Aged Care, Southcarers who work in aged care or provide an internal service will continue to wear masks. This includes servicing customers in their homes and the community, and in the office.

Southcarers who work or volunteer in community services have the option of wearing a mask, however if entering Janet Elder House (53 Bickley Crescent, Manning) they will wear a mask.

Our COVID-19 Response team has invested considerable time and research into this decision, after the announcement was made by the Health Minister earlier this week.

Our role as an essential aged care service means we are working with the most vulnerable in our community and we simply cannot be complacent. It is our responsibility to protect and connect our aged care customers in the safest way and extending mask-wearing forms part of that.

Ongoing practices regarding appropriate physical distancing, regular hand washing and monitoring for symptoms also remain in place.

If you are a visitor to Janet Elder House at 53 Bickley Crescent, Manning, we ask that you wear a mask and if you don’t have one on you, we are happy to supply you with one on arrival.

As always, I invite any questions from you regarding the way we do business and can be contacted on the details below.

In the meantime, you can follow our COVID-19 update page, stay up-to-date on Facebook or get in touch.
