This Saturday marks Aged Care Employee Day and I wanted to take a moment to say  “thanks for caring”.

I know those words are often spoken by our customers for the essential work that our caring hands do, but right now, those words take on a different meaning.

You see, the theme of Aged Care Employee Day this year is “thanks for caring”.   Celebrating our Southcarers is something we do every day and, to us, every day is aged care employee day.

We celebrate our Southcarers because we know that without them, we wouldn’t be able to make a difference in our customers lives the way we do or within the wider community as we have been doing for 40 years.

Working as an essential service requires dedication and passion from a team that brings individual skills to deliver a common goal to make a difference.  We take this role very seriously.

Many of our customers welcome our frontline Southcarers into their homes and see just how the caring hands of those employees help to administer medication, deliver personal care, drive to appointments, complete shopping or simply make a cuppa to share and have a chat, depending on their approved care needs.

The roles of aged care employees also extend beyond our front-line team. They include our Board, our operations team, our wonderful volunteers and community partners and without them Southcare wouldn’t be what it is for you.

Today and every day, we say: thanks for caring.

And on behalf of all Southcarers, to you the customers and your extended families, too.  Thank you for welcoming us into your hearts and homes. We love what we do and we couldn’t do it without you!  It’s just another reason that we are better, together!
