How does private home care work?

Private home care services are funded directly by you and are not subsidised by the Australian Government.

This means you can skip the lengthy assessment and approval process often associated with government-funded aged care services. Instead, you can access professional in-home care quickly, often within days rather than months.

Private home care is an ideal solution for people who:

• Are waiting for a Care Package to be assigned
• Have been assessed through My Aged Care and the Single Assessment Service but are not eligible for funded services

Who can access private home care services?

Private home care is available to anyone who would benefit from additional support at home.

Many participants have already completed an assessment through My Aged Care and:

• Have not been approved for government-funded aged care services
• Are waiting for a package or funding under Support at Home or the Commonwealth Home Support Program
• Need care immediately while waiting for government support
• Want to supplement their existing care plan with additional services

Private home care can also be accessed without a My Aged Care assessment.

How much does it cost?

Southcare’s fee structure is simple and transparent with no exit fees, putting you in total control.  The amount spent depends on how much and how often you use our caring hands and the products you need.  You remain in control of your care and budget at all times.
