New faces make history at Southcare
Southcare is ending 2023 in the biggest and brightest way with the highest ever intake of new Home Care Workers this week to look after our customers, or as we affectionately call them: our Southcare Stars.
Twelve new Southcarers joined our already strong team and in the process have set another record for Southcare – the highest number of Home Care Workers providing essential services in our 42-year history.
Manager Human Resources Mary Cullen-Pike said the recruitment of aged care workers continues to be such a critical part of providing effective in-home care.
“We are vigilant in our recruitment efforts because we want to ensure we have the right people to help our customers, and once we are confident they understand our values, they undergo a robust training and onboarding process as part of their induction.
One of the ways new workers learn the “Southcare way” is completing buddy shifts.
“Buddy shifts are a wonderful way for our new Southcarers to learn on the job; they learn from our experienced and caring team, plus it’s a great opportunity for our customers to get to know them too,” Mary said.
Southcare’s Home Care Worker team has a diverse and specialised skill set which means we can better match customers with caregivers offering specific expertise and experience needed to address their unique requirements, leading to more effective and tailored care.
“With so much demand for essential services, a large workforce is naturally important and moreso during the busy holiday time of year, because care never stops,” Mary said.
And in asking our new team why they chose to join Southcare, they replied in different ways with themes of flexibility, great training, awesome culture and a sense of giving back all shining through.
