Caring hands giving hope this Christmas
When the cost of living rises, so does the need for compassion. This Christmas, Southcare is inviting you to help make a difference in the lives of people in our community doing it tough.
Over the past 12 months, our Emergency Relief program has supported over 1,004 individuals and families, the highest amount in five years. Behind every statistic is a real story: a parent skipping meals so their children can eat, a family suddenly without a home. These are not strangers; they are our neighbours, our community. And they remind us why Southcare’s work matters.
This Christmas, we’re inviting you to join us in spreading hope through our Christmas Food Drive in partnership with Village Green Shopping Centre. It’s more than a collection of groceries, it’s a way for our community to stand together and say, “You are not forgotten.”
Southcare Chief Executive Officer Enda Fahy said extending our community support in this way means more people can be helped, more people understand the need in our community, and more people can share in the good feelings that come from helping others.
“This food drive is about extending our caring hands into the wider community to allow people to seek support with dignity and choice at a time of the year that can be overwhelming and stressful.
“The need for food relief is ongoing, and many people simply go without or change their buying habits to feed others in their family before themselves.
The feel-good benefits of gift of giving are contagious with the caring hands of the South Perth Swan Girl Guides, Manning Primary School, Curtin Primary School and St Pius X organising their own community donations.
“These donations will be used as part of this year’s food drive – thank you for being true Southcare Heroes.
“Accessing food is a basic human right and we are delighted to partner with local business, schools and community to bring a little extra joy to local families this Christmas.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. It fills a plate, lifts a spirit, and restores hope and we look forward to many others in the community joining us.

If you want to contribute, please drop off items (including tinned food, rice, pasta, cereals, long-life milk, pasta sauce, cordials, and juice) to:
- Village Green Shopping Centre (open 7 days and the donation box is in the Coles mall)
- Southcare Community Support Office (Monday – Thursday 9am – 4pm)
