The Southcare Board is saddened to announce that Dr Nicky Howe has made the decision to resign from her role as CEO of Southcare on 30 June 2023.

Nicky has been a strong, inspiring CEO who has led Southcare from being a struggling organisation to one that is well positioned to succeed in managing the raft of aged care reforms.

Nicky’s exceptional leadership skills have benefited both Southcare and the wider aged care and community services sector through complex and challenging periods. Her foresight in seeing the need to engage young professionals on aged care and community sector boards has resulted in creating a pipeline of diverse board directors serving on boards and committees across WA.

Nicky will be greatly missed by the people – both inside Southcare and outside – who know her competence, courageousness, persistence, relentless determination, and her unquenchable passion.

We will miss our ‘can do’ leader who has created a strong organisation with a clear vision, purpose, and values.

While this will be a period of transition for staff, volunteers, and Board, we know our dedicated staff and volunteers will continue to make a difference to those in the community we serve.

Enda Fahy and the Spirit Leaders will continue to lead Southcare, while the Board undertakes a CEO recruitment process.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to Nicky and wish her the very best as she takes time to discern the next chapter of her life.
