Cards from King Charles III, Queen Camilla and our Prime Minister, plus a tiara, candles, cake and balloons all mean one amazing thing: Southcare Star Audrey is ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD!

Southcare has supported Audrey since 2014 and visits her seven days a week in line with her assessed and approved care needs.

Audrey has lived in her Kensington home for 65 years and has no plans to leave, even vehemently shaking her head when her family joked about joining residential care recently.

“My home is my home and I am very happy here,” she said.

So, what’s Audrey’s secret to her full life?

Quite simply she says is to “live it” and “live for your family”.  And she would know, raising three children, and enjoying the company of eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

“Connection with people is so important, I love my chats with family and friends and reminiscing all the stories I can tell!”

“Staying active is important too – I used to play tennis, do water aerobics, lots of walking and just moving all the time.”

Daughter Gail said this milestone was made easier thanks to the caring people in her life.

“Southcare carers and the people behind the scenes in the office are an integral part of her wellbeing and the family are most appreciative of the loving care that is provided to Mum.  It gives us peace of mind when we are not with her ourselves that she is so well supported at home”.
