It is with a heavy heart that we today farewell Helen Moore one of the founders of Southcare 40 years ago this year, and worked with us tirelessly as a volunteer for 32 incredible years.

Helen’s passion and vision to help those that need help the most has been her greatest gift and continues today in the work we all do.

Helen’s caring hands touched every part of Southcare – she volunteered as a Board member for 32 years, she helped develop the Southcare constitution, she fundraised, served on the counters, did emergency relief, prepared all the required documentation for the Annual General Meetings, wrote up more than 500 sets of minutes for meetings and baked for the many afternoon teas.  She spoke to people, she listened and she made people feel seen and supported.

Helen’s legacy lives on each year when we present the “Helen Moore Leadership and Service Award” to a volunteer who displays her attributes and when our Mankara development is built, the café on the ground floor, appropriately, will be called Helen’s Café.

 Keep on shining Helen.

If you have a message to share, please get in touch and we will share with Helen’s family.
