Support at Home: 100 Days On – an open letter from CEO Enda Fahy

Today, our team marks an important milestone – 100 days of delivering Support at Home for our participants.

This moment provides a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and share what we’ve learned so far, and most importantly, what those learnings mean for the people we support.

What we’ve learned

  • Listening matters most

One of the clearest lessons over the past 100 days has been the importance of listening. We’ve listened closely to our participants, our care workers and our support teams. Their feedback, questions and lived experiences continue to shape how we deliver services and guide improvements in the way we support people at home, and in the workforce.

  • Teamwork makes better care possible

Support at Home has required new ways of working, and we’ve seen firsthand how powerful strong teamwork can be. By working closely across care, clinical and administrative teams, we’ve strengthened communication, improved coordination and ensured support services continue to run smoothly and reliably.  This includes ongoing, robust training for all Southcarers to ensure we are at the forefront of best practice.

  • Flexibility is key

Change can bring complexity, and we’ve learned to adapt and pivot as new situations arise. This flexibility allows us to respond to individual needs and helps ensure your supports remain consistent, even as the broader aged care system continues to evolve.

  • Keeping people at the centre

Through every change, one thing has remained constant – our focus on people. Even when things felt new or uncertain, our teams stayed committed to what matters most: helping participants feel supported, respected and comfortable at home and yes, bringing a smile where we can.

  • Quality and safety you can trust

The Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards continue to guide everything we do. These standards support safe, respectful and high-quality care, and help ensure participants are treated with dignity, choice and independence. They underpin our commitment to continuous improvement and remind us why we are a values-driven and people-led organisation.

  • Looking ahead

With more Support at Home packages expected to be released in the coming months, we look forward to welcoming new participants while maintaining the level of care, attention and compassion Southcare is known for.

While we are proud of what we’ve achieved in the first 100 days, this is just the beginning. We remain committed to learning, improving and growing – always with people at the centre of everything we do.
