Movember 2025: Supporting Men’s Health at Every Stage of Life

Movember is more than moustaches. It’s a global movement uniting men of all ages to take charge of their health and wellbeing. Each November, millions grow a mo, move for a cause, or host events to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

As one of Perth’s most trusted aged care providers and community support organisations, Southcare proudly supports the message behind Movember. We believe in empowering men of all ages to live healthier, happier, and more connected lives, from younger men in our community programs to senior men receiving our aged care services at home.

What Is Movember and what does it support?

Founded in Australia, the Movember Foundation began with a simple idea, grow a moustache to spark conversations about men’s health. Today, it funds thousands of projects across the world focused on:

  • Prostate cancer, one of the most common cancers in older men
  • Testicular cancer, the most common cancer in younger men aged 20 to 39
  • Men’s mental health and suicide prevention, addressing stigma, loneliness, and the need for open conversationsSo, what is Movember for? It’s for every man, and every person who loves, supports, and stands with them

Is Movember for both senior and younger men?

Yes, Movember is for men of all ages, from younger to senior men. The movement addresses health issues that affect men across their entire lifespan, including mental health, suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer.

Younger men are encouraged to get involved early. Movember funds programs that promote mental wellbeing, resilience, and testicular cancer awareness for men aged 20 to 39.

Senior men play a vital role too. The campaign highlights prostate cancer prevention and mental health challenges that can arise later in life, such as social isolation or loss of purpose. Seniors can participate by growing a moustache, moving for the cause, or sharing their stories and wisdom to inspire younger generations.

The Movember Five: What Every Man Should Know

According to the Movember Foundation, men can significantly improve their health and longevity by focusing on five key habits:

  1. Stay Connected: Spend time with people who make you feel good. Catch up regularly and check in on your mates.
  2. Talk More: Conversations can be life-saving. Be there to listen, share, and support one another.
  3. Know the Numbers: At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether you should have a PSA test. If you have a family history or are of African or Caribbean descent, start this conversation at 45.
  4. Know Thy Nuts: Get familiar with what’s normal for your testicles. If something feels off, see your GP right away.
  5. Move More: Physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your mental and physical health.

These simple steps can make a life-changing difference, and they apply equally to younger and older men.

The Takeaway

Men’s health matters.  Not just during November, but all year round. From early cancer detection to mental health awareness and community connection, every conversation and action counts.

At Southcare, we’re proud to walk alongside men of all ages, providing the care, connection, and compassion they need to live their best life at home and in their community.
