“When something isn’t right, you have the power to fix it,” such are the wise words of Southcare Star Noreen who fixed her help at home when she switched to Southcare. 

“Fixing things is easy, and it’s something we can do every day. 

“If your tea is too strong, add more milk.  Don’t like the song on the radio? Change stations!  When my kitchen flooded, I arranged to get it fixed and that has been just fabulous, so much so I am now sorting out my laundry too!” 

“One of the best things I fixed was the type of care I was receiving to help me stay independent at home. 

“I have always been very independent and a short stay in hospital was the catalyst for me to receive help with things like showering and getting dressed after being discharged. 

“A carer would come to my home to help me and for a while it was wonderful, but then it wasn’t.  They were late or didn’t turn up at all.  When I rang the office to find out what was going on, the people were rude and even hung up on me!  

“I laugh about it now but at the time it was stressful and not what I wanted.  I didn’t choose the care, the hospital did, so if I had my time again at least I know I have the power to fix it. 

Noreen fixed things when she rang Southcare and started receiving personal care as well as domestic assistance and social support, in line with her assessed and approved care needs.  

“The team at Southcare have been helping me since 2018 and have been wonderful! 

They are my lifeline really, they take me places as I no longer drive, they keep me socially connected and importantly keep me independent at home.  I have lived here for 22 years and have no plans to leave.
